About Commack NY

Commack is a hamlet and census designated place in Suffolk County, NY As of a 2019 census it has an approximate population of 36,953 residents. Although its origins were a thick oak forest with an abundance of wildlife and plants, it is completely suburbanized today. This makes it an area without a walkable “downtown” or main street. The name Commack comes from the Secatogue Native American tribe and it roughly translates to “pleasant lands”. Commack is bordered by the Suffolk County towns of Smithtown, Hauppauge, Dix Hills, East Northport and KIng’s Park.
