Colts Neck is a township in Monmouth County, NJ. It has an approximate population of 9.968 residents according to a 2017 census. Although it was established by an act of the New Jersey Legislature in 1847 as Atlantic Township, its name was changed to Colts Neck in 1962. Originally a farming community, Colts Neck has long been known for its many equestrian farms. This is probably the origin of the name Colts Neck.
