About Linden NJ
Linden is a city located in the southern part of Union County NJ. As of the 2023 census, it has an approximate population of 43,950 residents. It was originally formed as a township in 1861. In 1925 it was incorporated as a city, replacing Linden Township and Linden Borough, as the result of referendum held in 1923. The city’s name is from Linden trees brought from Germany and planted there. Linden is bordered by the Union County municipalities of Clark, Cranford, Elizabeth, Rahway, Roselle and Winfield.
