Manalapan is a township located in Monmouth County, NJ. As of the 2018 census, it had an approximate population of 39,600 residents. It was formed in 1848 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. The name Manalapan is derived from the Lenape Native American language, meaning either “land of good bread”, “good land to settle upon”, “good bread”, or “covered swamp with edible roots”.
