About Sea Bright NJ
Sea Bright is a borough in Monmouth County, NJ. It has an approximate population of 1,364 residents according to a 2018 census. It was incorporated as a borough in 1889 and re-incorporated in 1897. The borough was further expanded in 1909. The source of the name Sea Bright has various attributions, one of which is a suggestion by Martha Bayard Stevens. Another is that is named for Sea Bright in England. Another possible explanation for the name is that the area was once called “Nauvoo”, a Native American word for “bright sea”. Sea Bright borders on the other Monmouth County towns of Highlands, Middletown Township, Monmouth Beach and Rumson. It is located on the barrier peninsula that separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Shrewsbury and Navesink Rivers.
