About Westfield NJ
Westfield is a town in Union County, NJ. As of the 2023 census, it has an approximate population of 30,600 residents. Westfield was formed as a township in 1794 while it was still part of Essex County. In 1798, it was incorporated as one of the State of New Jersey’s original 104 townships by an act of the New Jersey Legislature and became part of the newly formed Union County in 1857. The Town of Westfield was incorporated in 1903, replacing Westfield Township. Westfield gets its name from its location in the western, undeveloped fields of the Elizabethtown tract.
