About West Caldwell NJ
West Caldwell is a township located in the West Essex part of northwestern Essex County, NJ. As of the 2018 census, it has an approximate population of 10,868 residents. West Caldwell was originally incorporated as a borough in 1904 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. In 1981 it was one of seven municipalities in Essex County to become townships. The borough was named for Caldwell Township which in turn was named after James Caldwell. West Caldwell is bordered by the other Essex County towns of Caldwell, Essex Fells, Fairfield, North Caldwell, and Roseland. It also borders on East Hanover in Morris County.
